After World Formula 1: Williams F1, the last garage owner

Speaking of Williams is talking about the essence of Formula 1. You speak of a Formula 1 that no longer exists, many miss and that the march of the big brands seem destined to be reborn. But until that happens, we can say that Williams F1 team is the last remaining old-fashioned. A team of no names and trademarks.
But times have changed and Williams is having difficulty adapting to modernity. Since the last title of Jacques Villeneuve has been many years, 13 specifically, and since then the team was unable to continue enlarging its halo. The first years of the decade of the ’90s marked the height of the team. A dominant team that only Michael Schumacher (and some of their dirty tricks) was able to outshine. In the last decade, his union with BMW looked to greening achievements, but it did not.

After BMW, arrived Cosworth (best forgotten), then Toyota and pack package and engines. Toyota has gone and as usual Williams F1 is still there. Again, Williams will join another of the legendary names in Formula 1 Cosworth. With the British motorized, the Grove team won its first pole, his first flying lap, his first victory and its first constructors’ title as both pilots, with Alan Jones at the wheel of the Williams FW07B.
But let history aside and return to the present, which is what interests us. In 2010, Williams will live a little revolution. Change engine and drivers. Toyota makes way for Cosworth and Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajuma cede their seats to Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hülkenberg. Starting motors, one might think that change is worse. Toyota engines were not the best on the grid but could be considered large engines. Still, neither Williams nor Toyota were removed too much performance.

Cosworth engines are one of the great unknowns of the season. Three years out of Formula 1 are too, although the company is beyond any doubt when discussing his work. Moreover, the fact that Cosworth motorize also handle three of the four new teams is not good sign.
Yet, in preseason Williams has been very pleased with the British engine performance. Both Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hülkenberg, Williams has cast day after day among the best in the field, and that can only mean one thing, the job is well done. True, this season workouts are tricky, but less is nothing and will have to think positive.
The Williams FW32 is a completely new design. A design is nothing revolutionary, and even St. Michael talked about a totally new design. Despite being together with GP Brawn and Toyota, the only ones who knew how to interpret the legislation to create a dual diffuser “magical” in Williams took the match did not expected. “Not even at Toyota. To see if the Japanese engines would be a chestnut. Despite this advantage and take a year working, changing regulations and petrol cans for deposits made them a fresh start.

If the changes came in the engine, also came in quines they drive. Nico Rosberg took for completion of their training at Williams and walked off to a great new team, Mercedes GP. Although we could not say that his stay at Williams is a complete failure, Nico Rosberg was expecting a little more. A top pilot, takes them out of there. In Williams and only had two podium finishes in 2008 adorn his career. Take to claim victory in the Singapore Grand Prix 2008. If Crashgate is “proven” by the FIA, Fernando Alonso should be disqualified. Williams is not to lose wins.
And if the passage of Nico Rosberg at Williams F1 has not been as expected, Kazuki Nakajima has been a complete blur. Another more if we talk about pilots placed by someone on another team. Better not talk more than I wear black. So the Japanese have to pass Rubens Barrichello. If the childhood dream was to drive from Fernando Alonso’s McLaren and Ferrari Brazilian’s dream was to drive one of the faster cars of Frank Williams.
After a season Brawn GP full of “hits,” Barrichello Williams reached with the batteries recharged. His 37 years are not a problem, and his 287 Grands Prix will only add. Barrichello will be the pilot experienced on whom has fallen the task of evolving the car and vest the hopes of being in the points regularly. With four teams and eight drivers in front, in theory, there are two places for points. Williams will have to beat with Toro Rosso, Force India and perhaps the Renault Sauber’s Kubica and De la Rosa. Many candidates for two seats and to expect the errors of the above. That is where Brazil will have to put the extra point of his infinite experience. In Barrichello we trust.

And if Barrichello pinning much of the hopes, I think Nico Hülkenberg to believe. Nothing more. The German has a track record in the “lower classes” only available to a few, well, the scope of just one. Of Lewis Hamilton. This letter should be sufficient. Unfortunately in Formula 1, to succeed when you’re young does not mean it in the top flight. So we must be patient with German, although we can not deny the evidence that we expect good results. Although they are sporadic. The demonstration that there should be no gap is expected, and even could not inconceivable that in circuits where it already has experience, can beat Barrichello. Yet the fight is not with his team mate. It will be himself and just hope that it champions.
